  1. Hi, all. My name is Nori Inoue, and I am your instructor for the course. I look forward to all the discussions about the course topics. Outside my work, I regularly play tennis and enjoy music and all kinds of things that are fun. For more details about me, please use the following link.

You can also check out all my Tweets @ninoue100.

  2. Hi All! My name is Gina DeLapa, and I'm excited to be accompanying you on the trip to Tokyo. I graduated from USD in 2003 (M.A., Counseling - career development emphasis), and have taught in the program as an adjunct for the past 5 years.

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

  3. Hi everyone! I'm Karen Salerni and I'm working on my M.Ed. in TESOL. I actually took EDUC 513 with Dr. Inoue last semester, and it was so much fun that I'm back for more!

I'm originally from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., but I haven't lived there for awhile. I studied journalism at the University of Maryland and then spent a few years working for a medical trade magazine based in Washington, D.C. I discovered my love for TESOL when, on a whim, I began volunteering as an ESL teacher at a school for adult immigrants. I decided to make a career change and head back to school, so here I am!

Outside of the classroom, I really enjoy spending time at the beach, hiking, and traveling. I'm excited to meet everyone, and I'm really, really excited to travel to Japan for the first time!

  4. Hello everybody! Happy Monday :) My name is Lauren Kvalstad and I'm really excited about this course and especially the trip to Tokyo. This is my 2nd semester at USD and I'm loving grad school so far. This will be my 6th year as an elementary school teacher (grades 1st-4th) and I live in Encinitas. I'm originally from San Luis Obispo and went to school at Cal Poly SLO for Liberal Studies and my multiple subject credential as well. I'll see you all in person soon!

  5. Hi Everyone! My name is Lexi Campbell I'm working on my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I have also already taken EDUC 513 with Dr. Inoue last semester with Karen :).

I am originally from Colorado, however I have not lived there in many years. My husband is in the Navy, so we travel a lot. We have been here in San Diego for almost a year now. We are loving the weather!

When I am not spending time in class I am busy with my two year old daughter. I love going to the beach, reading a good book, and spending time with friends and family.

  6. Kon'nichiwa!! As you can tell i'm getting excited for Japan :) Actually thats about all the Japanese I know. Anyways, my name is Melissa Epes and I am currently in the Masters Credential Cohort working towards my multiple subject credential. I also attended USD as an undergrad and received my bachelors in Liberal Studies. Outside of school, I like to go to the beach, cook, sleep, and travel!! I am looking forward to getting to know you all and exploring Tokyo together!!

  7. Hi Everyone! My name is Kathleen and I just completed my first year in the two-year Masters and Credential program here at USD. I am originally from the Los Angeles area and graduated from The University of Southern California with a Bachelors of Accounting. I spent four years as an Accountant before going back to school to begin my path to become a teacher. I love traveling, learning and teaching and am looking forward to the merging of the three in this summers course!

  8. My name is Kristy Williams, it’s actually Kristy Morgan now but I haven’t changed it with the University. I got married a year and half ago and my husband and I moved to San Diego in March 2012. We absolutely love it here and I am NEVER moving back to Arizona. I love dogs, wine, friends, being outside, and spending time with my husband (Tim). I’ve wanted to be a teacher for 10 years and my dream is coming true. I absolutely can’t wait to be a teacher.
